“Being competitive at all the tracks is what defines a champion in this series.” That’s exactly what current Quest Industrial Mid-American Stock Car Series point leader, Ryan Gutknecht, wants as a driver. Thus far this season, that’s what he is accomplishing. Despite some rough luck at Grundy County Speedway on July 15, Gutknecht sits atop the standings with six races remaining until a champion is crowned. Prior to that, he enjoyed a great run with two wins and two second place finishes in four races. “I don’t need to win every race, but I need to know that I had a shot to win every race,” continued Ryan. It appears that is the case with the Oak Creek, WI, pilot in 2016.

MORRIS, IL (Friday, July 15, 2016) The Quest Industrial Mid-American Stock Car Series traveled south to the Grundy County Speedway on Friday night, July 15. A stout field to racers tackled the one third mile oval in Morris, IL, for 50 laps of feature action. When the dust settled, it was local driver, Kevin Gentile, standing tall with the hardware.

John Senerchia and Geoff VeZain paced the field of competitors to the drop of the green flag. Senerchia gained the advantage as they exited turn two, but contact just behind him forced the first yellow flag of the race. Senerchia and VeZain once again led the pack back to action with Senerchia taking control down the backstretch. Another caution slowed the pace on lap two when VeZain spun collecting several cars including series point leader, Ryan Gutknecht. Gutknecht was forced to the pit area for repairs beginning a rough night for the point leader.

The Quest Industrial Mid-American Stock Car Series heads south to Grundy County Speedway in Morris, IL, on Friday night, July 15. Racing in conjunction with the ARCA Midwest Tour, the stars of the Mid-American Series look to flex their muscle on the one third mile oval located in the heart of Illinois. But will a short turn around since their last race on July 9 prove to be too tough for some to handle?
